I am interested in feedback on overclocking with the new boards. From everything I have read so far, unless you are using one of the 1.2G T-Birds that were manufactured to run at 133MHz, it requires underclocking the processor to up the bus speed. And the survey says.....

Not a result, but a thought:
I think you probably have to run the cpu at a lower multiplier, but because of the high fsb speed it will still run at a similar speed as before. I did hear though (i think on the homepage) about a duron actually being overclocked more on the higher fsb than it could be before.

That is my understanding as well, but won't you run into the same issues with AGP and (esp.) PCI bus speeds the same as Intel chips if you can't make 133MHz? Also, I read somewhere that underclocking is not good. I've never seen it anywhere else. Just trying to educate myself here as the AMD 133MHz boards are new.

Well the theory behind the 133MHZ deal is to increase the bandwidth between the Northbridge and CPU, the system is faster clock for clock, all you do is lower the multiplier till it works <IE if i had such a board id drop my 750 to 6.5x133 and try for 865 mhz, still within the range the cpu can take and all the multipliers drop to keep things within spec, this yields a good bit more speed than my current 9x100 overclock

Yeah I am confused now I think about it - if you put the fsb to 133 with a 1/4 pci multiplier, you're not overclocking the PCI/AGP cards at all, so you won't get the performance benefit of a fsb overclock. PC133 will still run at 133 - maybe it's easier for a chip to run at 133x6.5=867 than to run at 8.5x100 (for example). I've heard of people finding they can't do 9x100, but they can do 8.5x108=918 (for example), just on the KT133 boards. Let's wait and hear from someone who knows though :-)
UPDATE: Just read Mike's post, that clears it up a bit, thanks Mike :-)

why dont you set it to 155 fsb and 6 multiplyer and run 930 mhz
i have seen this already from a t bird 750 on a site
when i find it i will post
