Hello, I'm looking for ways to attach a 40mm X10 or 25 fan to my Zalman Gold colored aluminum northbridge heatsink. I can't seem to find screws that will lock into the heatsink without being to big to fit through the holes of the fan. Thought about Hot glue, maybe epoxy --- any advice?

I have heard many use the hot glue approach

epoxy sounds good, just make sure you dont get any where the blades spin... hot glue MIGHT melt so that could be a bad idea...

Thats what I was thinking with the Northbridge on my Epox 8RGA probably getting real hot that the glue might melt or at least soften, its just going to be a little messier 'not the hockey player" with the 2 part epoxy that I have.. Thanks

I just used electrical tape. Hasn't fallen off yet!

ya but that probably goes down over the top edge of the HS so you dont ahve as much area that gets air by it... though that is what i would do cuz im too lazy/ghetto/poor to go get some epoxy:D

I kinda doubt it makes much of a difference. The heatsink is nice and cool to the touch. Here's a pic:

no d00d i bet it totaly make a .01 C temp difference.. you might miss that exra .1 mhz!!!

lol i know but i like to suggest stuff the non ghetto way, little dabs of super glue and epoxy on each of the 5 corner pins or middle of it would give less flow restriction, also electric tape can get soft and not as sticky when it gets hot...maybe if your fan died... though that would probably not make any difference... i have mine just sitting on there lol:D

Hmmmmm , I'm just about to try a dab of epoxy and I'll also try a little electrical tape to hold it since I'm mounting the motherboard in a few minutes

AAAHHHHHGG, someone forgot to remind me how awful this epoxy stuff smells---come on guys!!!---now I need a good smelling beer to pass the time as this stinky stuff hardens..

Hmm- Can you believe I'm doing all these mods to the North-south bridge and MOFSETS before testing the board out of the box!! Wish me luck...

I posted a question yesterday on cooling the "Bobafets" as I call them, I used some nickel plated ram sinks from OCsystem and got some good info from Donnypaycheck who uses the same sinks on his epox board, so I'm pretty hopeful of reaching a decent FSB on my new Epox 8RGA, just gotta find my Batman anti static wrist strap and "THE MOUNTING BEGINS!!!"

What is a mosfet? I keep hearing about them, but can't find out what they are.

Oh and sorry 'bout being off topic.

they are the little black square things on yoru mobo usualy near lots of caps (big tall cylyndrical things).. they are transistors.

hey there taco_fox. what fan is that? I'm after a quiet 40mm fan with rpm monitoring to suit that exact heatsink (NB32). how loud is it?

Well, if you're looking for a quiet fan, this isn't it: link (http://www.directron.com/kd1204pkb1.html). At full power, I can hear the slight whine over my other fans.
