Hi, I have a Abit KT7 Motherboard and a AMD 800Mhz T'bird. I have a Superorb Cooler. I need help to overclock this to 1000Mhz. I am just a begginer and i roughly know about FSB e.t.c but can some one give me precise setting to do this, Voltage and all. Everytime i try over 920Mhz, My VGA Adapter does not work until i take it below there, can someone help me.

Firstly, read the beginners guides on the oc.com website, those should answer many of your questions. Then, if you haven't already done so, you need to unlock the chip's mutliplier - if you need help on this there's a guide at http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/00q3/000711/index.html . It basically involves connecting the cut L1 bridges on the cpu ceramic with a pencil, or any conducting material (Tom uses a conducting pen in the guide) - it will take a few attempts to do, but keep trying and you'll get it in the end. Even if it looks as though the lines aren't touching (you'll see what I mean when you read the article), run the blade of a craft knife between them to make sure, I've found this helps.
Once the multiplier is unlocked, you can drop the fsb speed back down to something that won't stop the vid card working. That superorb won't do a great job of cooling your chip, a globalwin FOP38 would be better, but louder, and the alpha PEP66 is also a good cooler to look at. Ideally your temps should be mid-high 40's C, and that 'll also require good case cooling. Don't be afraid to raise the voltage to the max allowed by the board (1.85), as long as your temps don't go much above 50C (60C I suppose is the absolute limit but I wouldn't be happy).
Just leave the fsb at 100, and notch the multiplier up a step at a time until it becomes unstable, then raise the voltage a bit (0.025-0.05V at a time), then carry on. Once you reach 1.85V and can't go any higher, raise the fsb until it becomes unstable again - that's the limit. There are tricks to get it higher, but wait until you've got to that limit before worrying about burnins and ram timings and things like that.
If you run into any problems, post with your temps and what fsb/multiplier combination you are using, and any other information you think might be helpful, and I'm sure someone can help!
