Dont understand this pencil stuff

Hi, I am totally new at this, i have a AMD 800Mhz T'Bird and want to overclock. What is this pencil stuff, i totally dont understand, and i need it explained in really simple terms.

Look at the CPU and find this:
L1.::::
L3*::::

You need to make only the L1 bridges look like this:
L1.llll

Make sure that none of the adjacant bridges are touched, otherwise it won't work.
