Hi,

My sons play CounterStrike over the internet. One uses a Celeron CPU (350?) and the younger uses an AMD K6-2/350 CPU. I hope to overclock the AMD to give the younger son an equal or more footing on the game. Can I overclock the AMD to 450, safely? Which would be the best combination that I can try first (specn below)? I have read on overclocking, but have never hands-on any yet (fearful). I do know how to short/open jumpers, though.

Some Details (brackers are other avail. values):
-------------------------------------------------------
MotherBoard: J-530BF
RAM: 64MB
CPU fan: EC-6010 1.9V

CPU Voltage JP8: 2.2 (2.4/2.5/2.8/2.9/3.1/3.2/3.3/3.5)

CPU external frequency/ SDRAM Clock JP2:
100Mhz/100Mhz
(66.8Mhz/66.8Mhz)
(75Mhz/75Mhz)
(83.3Mhz/83Mhz)
(95Mhz/95Mhz)
(83.3Mhz/66.8Mhz)
(95Mhz/63.3Mhz)
(100Mhz/66.6Mhz)
(112Mhz/112Mhz)
(90/66.8Mhz/90/89Mhz)
(100/105Mhz/75Mhz)
(112Mhz/74.4Mhz)

CPU ratio JP3:
1.5x/3.5x (2.0/2.5/3.0/4.0/4.5/5.0/5.5)

Regards and thank you in advance.

try 4x 100 and if it works try 4.5x 100 you can safely bump up the voltage to 2.4 or 2.5 if you have to dont be afraid. you can also try 4x 95 and 4.5x95 if 100 doesnt work i had an k6/2 350 running at 450 no problem

Hi Tom,
Thank you. I managed to use 4.5x / 95Mhz / 2.5V to get 428Mhz. Using 100Mhz crashed the system. Thanks again.

hi dude
what type of memory are u running ie. pc66 pc100 or pc133 it's unlikely to be the later but memory speed could be whats holding u back if u can beg steal or borrow a good pc100 or pc133 and then try again
when u say it would not take 4.5 X 100fsb
did it post up ok and then fail at the dmi pool or at the windoz screen also what was the max core voltage u tried the cpu at

cheers
