My new Tbird 1.1 ghz's core looks.....

Looks different... it's not a specific color, it's actually a color changing metal core... When I hold it up to the light the core changes colors from purplish to bluish to dark shades of green... It reminds me of those rainbow holographic type decals...

Has anybody seen these? Or am I just blind and my core is blue/purple?

Mine's exactly the same - I assume it's 'green' cause it doesn't oc too well. I heard of quite a few of these when the tbirds first came out, and everyone cared a lot about the colour - I guess the polish didn't get applied quite right at the factory, or it's worn off or something... yours'll almost certainly be 'blue' anyway - I don't think you can get green ones above 950/1gig. :-)

I would have thought the best way to tell is to look at the goo round the edge of the core (where they've slapped on the coating).. on my old TBird it was clearly blue, on this new one it's quite an obvious green.

Maybe they weren't as hapharzard on yours, but I think I know when I can spot a green one if they all look like mine does :)
