Hi.
I have been into watercooling a while. But I just don't know if my temps is something to like or not. I have watercooled systems for a few years. But when moving up to Pentium4 I got a bit confused.
Hardware and stuff.
Intel Pentium 4 2.4B @ 3.2GHz with 1.63V (at full load). Will be about 90W at full load right?
Abit IT7-Max2 V2 at FSB 178MHz. Locked PCI freq at 33MHz.
2x256Mb TwinMOS Winbond PC3200 at DDR450:ish speed with most agressive timings (2.94V)
Antec True Power 380W.
Chassis/Cooling
LianLi PC70. Radiator in total expose of the room air. Case open, top off. Backplate off. Radiator is resting nicley above the PSU.
BlackIce Xtreeme radiator with two 120mm fans. Mid performance AVC ones. (The temp feels low at the output fan).
DangerDen Maze3 1/2"
Eheim 1250
Reservoir about 2 Litres
1/2" tubing.
Temps
CPU: 48 degrees C at full load. 40.5 at Idle.
System: 32 degrees C at full load. about the same at idle.
Room: about 22-24 degrees C.
I would believe that my Temps are way to high for a W/C performance system like that. That's whats feeling funny.
What do you think the temps would be? Thanks in advance!

To start - Could need to reseat the waterblock, could be improper application of heatsink compound (AS3?). Is the block clamped down enough?
Could be improper temp readings from motherboard, could read high.
Yeah dude, i hope your entire rig catchs fire... lol

16C above sys temp under full load? for your equipment, it's pretty high!
i'm running a P4 1.8a @ 3.42 @ 1.675v, it's about 12-13C above sys temp. just using a Innovatek/1048/heatcore.
try to reseat the wb, and check the tube to see if there's any kink....

No kinks on tubing.
WB is reseated several times during a few weeks. Temps won't go down. And yes. I use AS3. Not to much and not to little. The WB it's clamped REALLY tight. All the way down with the bolts.
I feel the temps are high too. I can't see why. Strange!

You have any way of manually testing the temps? Digital therm?

Yep. I have.
Just did now. WB temp is about 30°C, Water about 28°C.
So. The Core temp is a bit more. But it just can't be as much as 18-20°C more than WB temp. It just can't.
Well. It's widley known that IT7/AT7 mobos are reading a bit wrong temps but this much.
Thanx anyway ppl. Nice temp. If it is correct.

Landshark....wow..what an OC speed... I also have a 1.8a but currently running at 2.56 on stock cooling.. what is your hardware specs?? THX
I'm putting together my WC this weekend and hope to jack it up a few notch...I would be perfectly happy with a 3.0

it's a 1.8a (C1 stepping!) @ 3.42, on P4G8X, 190x18, etc... (but it's not running anymore, 'cos i've took it out and gonna put both on sale. just upgraded to a 2.4C and Canterwood board...)
with a C1 stepping, the 1.8a could easily do 3+Ghz at stock voltage on air! mine does.

eermmm...what's C1 stepping ?:D
mine is on an Asus P4b533-V with DDR333 Samsung original 512MB...I believe the voltage is at 1.575 at 143 FSB
I can't increase the fsb yet because the temp would be too hot for such minimal gains..so I can't wait to get this WC thingy in...
then 3.0??? I hope so:D

I also had the same results when I started watercooling 2 weeks ago. using almost the same setup on my amd rig. innovatek cpu block, eheim 1048 and innovatek radiator.
When i first booted up after installing w/c temps slowly crept up to around 38-40c @idle 42-44c @load. I thought wtf! then tried reseating the cpu block several times and that didn't work. I even went out and got new fittings and 1/2in tubing still the same high temps.
Finally after reading about socket temps and airflow I took off the side of the case and took 1 80mm case fan and held it near the cpu socket and instantly my temps went down to about 30c @idle! Load temps never go above 46-48c now. this with my xp1700 @2400 1.7v cpu
Even with good case airflow, 1 120mm fan blowing in thru radiator, 1 80mm and 2 psu fans blowing out the back of the case i guess airflow never reaches the cpu socket. Now just for piece of mind i keep a 40mm fan blowing right at the cpu socket.

whether you moboard is reading wrong or not, i'd say theres something poor going on in your system. Where in eth system do you measure you water temps ?
My water is around 25.5 usually and thats with the ambient air (in front of teh intake fan on the rad) at aroudn 23c (so similar to you). My setup is the very average Maxexpert rad but with just x1 7v 120mm papst which is very very low airflow. Then in series, the water goes to 2 black ice micros again with very low airflow papst 80mm at 7v (my system is for silence).
Even when i didnt have the Micros my water was around 28/29c.. still lower than yours. You have a large res, wider tubing than me, a high performance rad and 2 fans on it in push/pull and probbaly way way more airflow than all my fans put together. Whats more my cpu gives out more heat than yours and your case is fully open ! With your setup i would expect you to have water temps at least the same as me, but probably lower.
