Is there anything better than Norton?

My subscription ran out on my Norton systemworks and I am wondering if there is something better?
Norton seems to slow my computer down quite a bit.
Any info would be helpful..Thanks

For AntiVirus go with AVG from www.grisoft.com

It is a very good free AV program:D
