ok what is the proper settings in the bios for the 2600+. I heard its 166x12 but i get errors when loading os and sometimes it won't boot. Motherboard is A7n8x dlx Rev 2.0 stock bios. I'm not intrested in overclocking yet. But when i put it at 133x7.5/15 it reads at like 700mhz. What am i doing wrong. i have this board on my 2500+ and it works just fine and this board is rev1.43. I am about to go with a new motherboard company....

Actually doing the math 166MHz/12x only gives you 1992MHz the chip is rated at 2130Mhz {2.31GHz}. try 133Mhz/16.0x this puts you exactly were you wanna be. Could also go with 150MHz/14.0x, this will put you at the ideal speed for your memory.

Actually they came in both 266 and 333 fsb models so it could be either 16x or 13x, try both and see, I believe the 333 version was more common though with the lower multi.

there are two varients of the 2600+:

1) 133mhz fsb. 133.33mhz x 16 (2133mhz)
2) 166mhz fsb. 166.66mhz x 12.5 (2075mhz)

as for the actuall problem? i dont know why it doesnt work
Could also go with 150MHz/14.0x, this will put you at the ideal speed for your memory.
he has corsair pc3000. thats rated for somewhere around 175mhz isnt it?

edit:dang you mamer - you beat me to it lol

I know that I had trouble with my Kd7 bios supporting my 2700+ properly until I flashed to another bios, perhaps it's a bios issue.
