Hey guys,

I'm working on a Windows ME system, a Dell Dimension 8100(P4). It was majorly messed up so I decided to do an upgrade install. So it goes through part of the install and now it won''t reboot(it's stuck on the Windows ME initial start up screen-not in windows(w/the white background). I don't know what happened, I also tried safe mode. I saved the old install's system files(it gives you that option in the beginning). Is there a way to make use of those and go back to the previous state or any other way to fix this? Thanks

The biggest problem is that your using ME. :p

ME is THE single worst software/OS MSoft has ever released.

Period.

Did the setup ask you to create a floppy boot disk? If so boot to it, and fallow the instructions given.

Instead of an upgrade install, you might want to consider doing a full install. Format the drive, then do a completely clean installation.

Upgrades are evil, I wouldn't recommend doing them. Like stool said, just format the drive and reinstall with the full version. If you need data from the drive, it's a simple matter of hooking it up to another machine and pulling it off, no biggy.

Way to help the man. :p
