Well I finally got brave enough and did it

I took a pair of pliers and broke off the alarm on my vantec nexus 101 and... it worked beautifully! No more alarm! I can now see my temps without plugging in a fan and no more of those awful high pitched alarm sounds.

lol, i got a real loud alarm on mine when i didnt plug it into the cpufan slot, used a molex
