an artifact is a error by the video card , or some point in the vid card process ... ill go paintbrush some examples for u ... brb

Example #1 : Dots
-under the plane

-when the coordinates get messed up points are missrepresented on the screen

-this would be a sign of too much oc'ing :D

to get these effects i raised my mem clock from (317.5)635 to (330)660 BTW

Ok, thanks for the pics. I kind of figured thats what they were as I could see something just like that in the sky in 3dmark01. So that just comes from too much o/c and not enough cooling? Also is it usually too much o/c on the core or RAM or can it be both?

It tends to be that a too high mem oc produces artifacts, while a too high core oc produces crashes.

Yes, it often results from bad cooling, but cooling isn't the only limit to overclocking; the chips themselves are too.

i found its usually the ram going edgy from too much oc'ing not enough cooling ; when u oc the core too much it usually just freezes

Very nice, I have sinks coming in for my RAM this week so hopefully I'll get a little more out of it. Now I'm off to see if I can pull a little more out of my core. :)
