...firstly started with an multiplicator of 8.5 also 850, played q3 played hl run 3D Mark 2000 no system crash... secondly started with an multiplicator of 9 also 900, played q3 played hl run 3D Mark 2000 no system crash, thirdly run with an multiplicator of 9.5, system started, but don't boot windows... so i have decided to overclock te vcore @1.70, by my Asus a7v i must click the plugers for fan too set the juper too 1.70 an so i forgot to click the plugger back, system runs without n cooler, windows q3, than fatal system crash i have never seen before!!! ...Set multiplicators back to 9.0 afer a few minutes, system runs with an cooler very crashfree!!! Later i tried too boot windows mit 950Mhz no chance!! Tryed all vcores up too 1.85, but system gave my an "schutzfehler" or only blank screen...

perhaps somebody has an idea what i can do!!!

My SYSTEM:
Asus A7V
256 MB (2x64@100+1x128@100) RAM
IBM 20.00GB FP
Duron 800Mhz
Asus V7700 Geforce 2
Windows Me/98se
Orb Cooler ~1500Mhz

A Globalwin, Alpha, or something like that may get you a better overclock than the Orb.

HSF = Heatsink and Fan
tachyon is right. try and get a globalwin fop38 (VERY noisy) or an alpha.

also, mixing ram like that might give you instability issues. try overclocking with only the 128mb dimm and see what happens.

Perhaps u are right... perhaps not!!! I wondere why the system started one times (withount an cooler) into windows and i could play a sort time quake3!!! without na cooler??? I dont understand this...
And i use 900Mhz since an week with default core, system never crashed...
why he do not boot windows by 950??? I think 50 C Celsius is not very much and system must start...

but perhaps the problem can be the ram... but why? I use ever 100Mhz FSB!!!???
An other an idea? There are very much peoples having overclocked their duron 700@~1000Mhz can somebody discribe very dediailful what he have done??? Please???

Miguel,
That is a Chrome Orb clone...the Chrome Orb doesn't make a good overclocking cooler. Your temperature is far too hot. You are reaching the spec limits of the chip!!!!!!!!!!!! You MUST get a new (better) cooler soon or you may need a new chip as well.

That type of cooler doesn't disipate heat very well. It may support 1500MHz processors that run at a lower voltage. When you increase voltage to overclock, you increase the heat that needs to be gotten rid of. Try www.2cooltek.com.

www.3dfxcool.com

They have the nicest coolers, lifetime warranty, and they don't rape you on the shipping. Check it out if you haven't already. I'll never buy from anyone else.

According to an AMD spec sheet, the maximum operating temp for Durons is 90c. So he's not even close to the spec limit, but that really is too hot.
