View Full Version : Help on an AMD 1 ghz cpu
after seeing an article over at toms hardware about AMD overclocking and thermal paste and such , i decided to open my pc and have a look at my cpu . To my suprise i didnt have those 4 little round rubber things in each corner like the picture shows http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/00q3/000711/images/contacts.jpg
am i missing something here ? do i need those 4 little rubber things or can i live without them ? if i need them where can i get some ?

those rubber thingies are not entirely necessary but they are nice ... they help to keep you from chipping or damaging your cpu die when installing the heatsink ... if you are removing and reinstalling the heatsink without those rubber 'feet' just be carefull not to use too much force to install the hinkseat such as to damage the die .... just be carefull and you should be fine

did some one build that pc for you or did you buy it from a retail outlet
what temps are you running and what other stuff do you have mb hsf ram ???
most importantly those rubber thingies help to keep equal pressure on the die just in case your hsf is off center(can make a big difference)
