View Full Version : What happens when i crossed the L1 bridges ?
I tried taking out my T-bird 1gig cpu and redoing the L1 bridges on it. But when i put the cpu back.. the computer wouldn't boot up.. and i got a slight burning smell from the computer. i took the cpu out again and totally got rid of the carbon pencil markings on the chip, but the computer still doesn't boot up!! I thought that maybe i crossed the bridges on the first time..i'm not sure. Is this the effect of crossing the bridges??
I REAALLY need help :(
Hope i don't need to get a new cpu !

I'm pretty sure I was cross-bridging when I first tried unlocking my duron, cause drawing a knife between the bridges solved it not booting - and I didn't fry it at all. You say you noticed a burning smell - have you examined everything visually for burn marks veerryy carefully to make sure it wasn't something else that went, it would be coincidence but it's not impossible. You could just keep trying to redo them, see if you can get it to work.
holy **** dude
before you do any thing else read the OC beginners' guide on the main page
and then do some research on your chip and mother board
all the good sites will have info that will help you to oc your chip (do the research first)

This was my experience also. I sent the CPU back to the vendor as it was under warranty. The report back was no problem. I now have the MB in the shop. NO news yet.

i've overclocked a couple of celerons before, but ever an Athlon. I am totally surprised when this happened. I've already gotten rid of all the carbon markings on the L1s with a electronics cleaning spray. And i can't find any burn marks on the system. I'm really bumped by this thing! :(
when you conect the bridge`s thay will look like this
