can to many fans on a 300w psu pull enough power away from the cpu to destabilize it making it difficult to OC

i pulled this info out of a magazine a few months back - thought i would pass it on and see if it could help you out ....

the watts used by component:
CPU 30W
Motherboard 20W
Each 64mb Memory 5W
3D Graphics card 20W
Sound card 7W
Additional PCI cards 5W
Floppy drive 5W
Hard Drive 25W
CD drives 25W
----
Most case fans draw from 2 - 5W
---
depending on the ps you are using i have found up to 25W fluctuation depending on the quality

my easy fix solution is to take one of the AT ps from your 'other stuff' and hook them up to the fans (since it is an AT ps you don't have to have it hooked to the mobo in order for it to fire up) and see if this fixes the problem that you are running in to

currently my mobo and drives are on the ATX ps and my fans are on the AT ... both mounted in my case ....

hope this helps

i would have thought so, kat. you could use and at psu and plug your atx psu into the at's high voltage parallel out. that way the atx won't have power unless the at (and your cooling) is on. or you could link two atx psus: http://www.speedy3d.com/articles/case_mod_p3/index.shtml
