i've a amd slot a 700mhz k7 athlon,a gigabyte GA-71XE mboard and iv'e clocked it to 805mhz.it seems fine no crashes the temperature is 49c (same as before). There doesn't appear to be a multiplier or any way of changing the bus in bios,it's on a 4 position switch on the board.90mhz-115mhz.i step by step upped the speed to 115mhz.my chip now runs much faster(pretty dissapointed with it before, not much quicker than my old k62-500).now its obviously quicker, but is it safe ,i have a :ambient ham 56k modem, fujitsu hdd, soundblaster 128,sis 8meg agp,and scsi card installed.do u think these cards r safe cos u can't check the temperature of them individually although my system temp is at 30c,same as before.overall ,have i clocked this cpu correctly.if so could it be clocked any more(safely).thanks 4 any replies, much appreciated.

I'm suprised that you can run your cpu at an FSB of 115 stable. It's quit high. I ran my TBird 1 ghz at 109, but while running some programs, my pc locked up. Went back to 107. OK now.
Seems you had only the possibillity to OC by means of the FSB setting, like I had. It would be great to be able to change the multiplier as well but my mobo doesn't offer this feature either.
Seems you have done well, although you have to monitor the cpu and case temps. Ideally the cpu temp should stay below 50 C. If it's getting higher maybe another cpu cooler and some extra case coolers could decrease the temps. The Globalwin FOP 38 I installed does great, but it is quit noisy.
As long as the cpu temp stays below 50 C and all programs are running fine, you are safe.

hay guys

take look at this this will show you how to change the voltage and multiplier with out mb support looks kind of tricky to me

Thanks Kat, I've tried this last week. No results. The multiplier remains the same as it was before. The only thing changed is the core voltage. This went up from 1.79 to 1.89 V (default setting in BIOS). I've checked the connections I did on the bridges and they seem to be OK. Will check it again tomorrow. Maybe the MSI K7T does not allow higher multipliers then 10x. I don't know.
