Okay, i just got my thermalright slk900 in the mail today. No directions in the box.....(HEY!! im a virgin what can i say), so i go to thermalright's website and pick up the directions there. The directions have two ways of installing onto a 478 socket. One using the retention clip provided by the Mobo manufacturer, (Abit BH7). Or,Using the heatsink mounting screws that were provided by Thermalright. Does anyone have any experience in both of these applications, and if so, which application do you guys recommend? Any help would be awesome, the url below is to Termalrights installation page, for those of you who are curious.

I personally would prefer using the screws which go through the motherboard, because i move my computer around alot (mainly to lans).

However, if your computer hardely ever gets moved, you should be ok with the retention mechanism provided on the motherboard.

The reason for screwing the heatsink through the motherboard is because it is less likely to come off. The normal retention mechanism isn't really designed to hold a heatsink weighing as heavy as the slk 900, but if you aren't going to be moving your computer around, as i said, don't worry about mounting it through the motherboard. Welcome to the forums too :D
