First time on this site for me today :)
i have been overclocking my processor alittle but not so much.
I have a Duron 800 @ a KT7 raid and i have clocked it to 880 (8*110) and 920 (8*115) @ 40°C / 104°F. The only problems I have has is that my SB Live creates a sound sometimes when entering windows. i dont know if it has something to do with my overclocking or if ist something else. Anyway, I thought that it could be that I have changed the bus speed instead and wend into my bios to change it to 9*100 instead.. i could save the settings and i thought that it would go fine.. but when I reboted i got 800 (8*100). I understod that the prosessor didnt support more than 8 on the miltiplay. Next day i asked a friend and he sayed that i had to connect the L1 cache or something.. I aint that experienced on that area so I thought i should learn some more about it b4 trying..
I have read the beginners guide but didnt find anything about it there.. I already knew the things that it sayed about overclocking so I went on looking but didnt find anything about it more than on the forum. But no exact description on how to do, what I should do to connect them and so on...

The questions i want answerd is:
1.) Can my overclocking have anything to do with the little sound sometimes apear when starting windows. And if so can it be cause of the bus speed?

2.) How do i connect the L1 cache or whatever it is that I should connect. Can someone give me some kind of guid how to do and what to use?

Thanks!

1) I dont think that sound has anything to do with your overclocking. I have an SB Live and mine doesnt do any of these things you mentioned.

2) You need to connect the L1 Bridges. This will unlock your multiplier and allow you to go faster than 8x. You need to connect them using either a pencil or a conductive pen. Read some of my other posts to find out where to get them. You also need to go and find a good guide on how to do this, you dont want to mess up.

i have been reading articles at toms hardware all day now :) i have understood what I should do but not exactly.. I think I would need some help from someone here so that I don't do anything wrong..

What bridge should I connect?

Could anyone explain that image and tell me were I should do the changing?

What type of pen would you suggest to make the changing with?

Also explain this...

it seams like I have to change every time i want to clock the processor..
Isnt there some way to just unlock it so that I can change multiplay in bios like i change bus speed?

i get thesame noise when starting windows Me... i have a SB 64AWE ISA, and the noise has seemed more destinct since i adjusted the fsb, but i think it's just a co-incidence, and either windows, or my old isa sound card being homosexual...

if you have a abit kt7 raid, or none-raid, all you have to do is connect the L1 brigdes.( each 'dot' with it's corrisponding 'dot' ) and then change the multiplier in softmenu III like you change the FSB

all u gotta do is on the main chip in your processor if all the lines are gold than it is already unlocked and you dont need to connect if any of the gold lines are not solid then use a #2 lead pencil and carefully connect them(lead is paartially conductive) but put a business card between then so you dont touch each other.once they r connected its unlocked
