your the experts so i came here to ask your of your kind wisdom.i've clocked my AMD K7 ATHLON 700MHZ slot A to 805MHZ by altering the FSB to 115mhz,everything runs ok,the temperature hasnt changed ,but now i want to go a littkle further.whats my next step, does upping the voltage increase speed or would i need to get out the soldering iron and tweezers.my mobo is a gigabyte 71xe .i cant change the multipler in bios cos its not there,am i shafted .i can live with 805 mhz,but more would be nice.any one out there clocked A Slot A much more.
ps.i read about the L2 cache thing and how it will run slower if i go to high.how far could i go without losing cache performance.

Unfortunately, you'd have to adjust the L3, L4 and L6 bridges but cutting and joining depending on what frequency you want to change the processor to. There's an articles at toms hardware that shows what bridge combinations correspond to different frequencies. :)

I think the only way to easily oc a slot A althon is to buy a golden fingers device, and use that to change the multiplier. I'm not sure where you could get one, or even how much they are, but I know they are out there.
Maybe somebody else has a link to somewhere that sells them.

I see from your Profile, you're UK based. Try visiting http://www.overclockers.co.uk. The last time I looked they had GFD's (or Gold Finger Devices)under Overclocking Accessories, called "FreeSpeed Pro Athlon Overclocking Card"
I don't know much about these in general. All I know is there are some gold connectors at the top of the Athlon CPU card. These for some reason are affectionately called Goldfingers. With the GFDs (in general) you can play with multiplier, voltages, etc.
