How hot is too hot for an 800 (not overclocked) AMD Duron? What temp should it be running at?

The official temp is 90C. Try this link - http://www.icrontic.com/faqs/amd/AMD_FAQ/index.php

most people try to keep their temps under 60C. there's a big difference between amd's official temp and the max temp the chips will run stably at, imho.

Yes, most folks tend to keep their T-birds below 60c. WAY below. I get concerned when I get above 50c. 55c would be my absolute limit.

90C May be right if you could measure the actual die temp. Very few people Mill their HS for an ACCURATE TempSensor to come into contact with the Die itself.... all MOBO temps are relative to that MOBO.. if your CPU gets flakey at 55C mine may get flakey at 50C. The lowest you can get it and be stable is the best you're going to do. Just max out HSF (alpha, fop38, etc) and case cooling and go for the max stability.
