Ok here it goes fellow AMD for lifer's

I got my msi k7n2-L to 200 fsb after i figured out the unlock for 2200 xp :-) ...... its sweet and all but why can i not go past 1900 Mhz ? i have it set for 1.75 vcore mem timings are 6,3,3,3 ...anytime i UP the FSP when it posts again my speed is down to like 1100 Mhz ..

AMd xp 2200 @ 1904 Mhz (9.5 * 200 FSB)
2*256 3200 DDR simgle sided Samsung
ATi 9100 218 @ 277/246 (1424) 3dmark2003

Did i miss a jumper on the CPU ? or is it inherent in the 2200 to be a mess for OC'ers ?

Thanks boys and when i find out what folding is mabey ill join ya'

the 2200+ Tbred A core is just a horrible OCer, horrible i tell you, its just bad! hte B isnt as bad but still not good.

as for it going back down it ould be a safty setting in your BIOS that maybe if it gives an error goes back to the last settings, doyou have anything like that in your manual (in the BIOS settings part)?

if its not that you battery could be bad... does it save any ohter settings?

Nah the battery and board are new and show as good in 2003 .... as for being bad your not the first to say (( so i guess now its stick to my plan and get new GPU then get a better CPU ...i am still shocked that i could dial up 200 Mhz FSB on mu MoBo

The reson that they are so bad is: The 2200 was made on the thouroughbred A process, and was generally the fastest that this process could handle when it was made. AMD made the 2200 to be the fastest that the t'bred A core could handle, and left very little headroom for the overclockers. The chip usually maxes out in the 1900 -- 2000Mhz range due to this, so you may want to look into getting a new CPU if you are hell-bent on getting a really high overclock. Good luck, and

The Athlon XP has three different types of cores: the Palomino, Thoroughbred A, and Thoroughbred B. So they didnt lie to you...it's just a Palomino and not a t'bred B...which you want for overclocking.

the "a" iis better than a pali that is for sure. my pali only goes 75mhz above stock at 1.82V

Wait ! ! If i am right then telling you this will tell you which chip i have :-) ....all i did to unlock this was the L3 bridge trick i found somewhere else in this forum....should i also close all the L1 as well ??? Does this help...CPUID says its a 13.0 micron thunderbird but it could be trying to trick me as well...its all a conspiracy against me :-P ....

edit: Strange i also found something about L5 3,5 bridging...what does that do....on website with cpu BP's it appears to be the FSB set...

If you have the time, you can take the chip out of the motherboard, and look at the cpu. either on the die itself, or on a black sticker on the outside of the chip will be 4 lines of code. If you can tell me the code, I can tell you what kind of core you have there.
