View Full Version : DivX Decompression
I have a few DivX files that won't play. Every time I start them, WMP 6.4 crashes. I've tried other players as well, with the same result.
I've tried all kinds of repair tools from http://dvd.box.sk w/ no luck at all. I was wondering if I could use a tool to completely decompress the file, and then re-compress it. I'd rather not re-download the files, if that's possible.
Thanks.
Hmm, have you tried VirtualDub? I once downloaded it from DivX Digest (www.divx-digest.com),
They also have some VERY helpful forums over there that you might want to check.
Do you have the latest codecs? Are you sure it is Divx and not Xvid or maybe ogm? But as Cube said, virtualdub is probably your best bet right now. Check out doom9.org and other sites and see what some of the "pros" think.
I tried about 6 different reindexing programs, but to no avail. I just have to re-download the files, I guess. No biggie. :)

use gspot to see what codec is being used and if you have the codec installed.
Well, I was missing a filter or something, 'cause I re-installed Nimo w/ a whole selection of different filters, and the videos now play. Funny thing is, on the ones that I thought were fubar, before the video starts, there's a message that says:
Warning: Nothing to output
Bframe Decoder Lag
Then it continues. Any idea what this means?
