ive been reading on how a raid ata/100 with two harddrives can transfer data at like twice the speed can anyone explain this to me and how much faster is it.

RAID treats the two drives as one, and writes alternate lines of data to each at the same time - to write 123456 it would write 135 to one drive and 246 to the other simultaneously. A bit of a rough explanation but I think that's whats going on :-)
