Slowly moving up, watch out! :p

800 Mhz Athlon Crate got started today, it will finish Wed at 8am on it's first WU. There is officially 4.650 Ghz folding 24/7 for me and 5.6 Ghz part timers that have been going all day since 5pm sunday because of the weekend, those go off tomorrow at 8am.

Congrats. Its an addicting bug. I am currently at 149 trying to get into the top 200. FOLD ON

It is not addicting. I can quit anytime I want. I've done it hundreds of times, sometimes holding out 2 whole seconds before relapsing....wait a minute, it can't be relapsing because I deny addiction....before "Returning To The Fold":D

DWolf:cool:

PS Congrats on moving up - doesn't it feel good?

YUP!

Now I just need to get some pics of the The Machine (my main rig) and the Folding Crate (Slot A 800 Mhz in an old milk crate)

Congrats on the move up.

BTW Its not that addicting. Just because I look at my stats at least once every hour and when I have a free min at work and a ear to bend its the only thing I talk about does not make an addiction right?

Better watch your rearview mirror.

I'll be seeing you in mine after June 8th :D

I should be on page FIVE (http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_members.php?TeamID=32&pagenumber=5) too after the 2100 update.

Edit: Dang just missed it 501.

Anyway congrats Fast420A for getting into the top 500 of 3000.

I've been watching you gain on me, I have another 1 Ghz on it's way to me as a folding box so even if you do pass me, it won't be for long.

Plus once the watercooling parts get here I get to find out which of the 3 processors I have is the fastest, the 2100 Paly, the Unlocked 1800 Paly or the 1700 Tbred A. :)

Hmmm...

Need to find local friends who have nice computers that I can borg.

Or...

Get a full time job so I can build me a killer folding farm.

I like competing with fellow greens. Those yellows just aren't fun to play with when they run you over.

Get those $42 Tbred-Bs at newegg and kick some A** even if mine is one of 'em. On water you could hit 2400 to 2500 easy.

Fast420A

I paid $42 for the new egg 1700 and got this Tbred A but either way it's still a killer deal. I got lucky this weekend with the holiday and was able to run my part time folders at work for 30 hours straight. 471 and climbing.

I should kick in another 53 pointer tomorrow morning. That will get us both on the same page :D

53 more later tomorrow. My goal is to at least pass you once before you get all your processors folding. I only have two XP1700 Tbred-Bs kicking @ 3.6GHz. I need to get another machine to hit yellow.

Audio u r pulling ahead of me lately. I'm on holidays at the moment and playing games like 12hrs a day! Not many free mhz to fold with!

I still got one of the best wu's to points average around that i can see.

Over half my WUs Were from my PPro200. It took me several months just to break 100 back when I was still using 98 and only one processor. I also only got half my points counted back then after I started using w2k because I hadn't set the -local flag on my two processors and only one got counted eventhough the work got accepted and more was sent for both to crunch.

With your twin overclocked XP 2100s I thought you'd have gotten ahead of me long ago. My daughter's borged SK41G Shuttle-X computer is only 5% overclockable and they play a lot of games on it too. I've got 2.1+1.5 for a total of 3.6GHz compared to your 4+.

Cya on page five when you get there :D

Conrats. :)

Anyway what's the -local flag for?

Audioaficionado
05-29-03, 05:38 AM
When you have more than one processor on a computer, you use the -local flag so your computer and Stanford can keep track of the fact you are running more than one FAH client. If you don't logicly separate them by only using the local files in each folder via the -local flag, file corruption can occur if they get confused. You also don't always get credit for the ones you do run because Stanford's FAH servers can't tell which one is which and when in doubt, it won't count.

Fast420A
05-29-03, 05:50 AM
verbatim, you and audioa are my only potential threats right now. Good luck to you guys, I'll try to hold you off as long as I can. :)

verbatim
05-29-03, 09:21 AM
I'm not a threat to anyone till I stop playing games....

And btw audio its 2400xp's not 2100xp's.

And I had to delete two finished wu's last week as I changed some damn setting and they weren't uploading.(Del a file)

Audioaficionado
05-29-03, 09:47 AM
That's right two XP2400s running at 2100MHz.

Next time you have some finished WUs you want to get rid of, send 'em to me :D

BTW how much can you overclock that MSI?

That's kind of strange because on my dually server, neither instance has the -local flag set, yet I haven't had any problems with lost or confused WUs. (maybe because I run them each as a service with a slightly different name?)

DWolf:cool:

That might be what's working for you. I've found when I fold as a service, w2k protects the process much better than when it was just another app running. I shut down frequently sometimes when trying out BIOS settings and since I've been running FAH as a service, I havn't lost a WU. Before even when I rightclicked and selected close, I'd sometimes have it restart from the begining. No matter how many times I tried to stop and restart, I couldn't get back the lost frames.

On my PPro200 dually, I only got credit for half my WUs eventhough they were in separate, differantly named folders until I flagged -local on each startup shortcut. That really  me off because it took over 10 days per WU. It wasn't running as a service either.

DreamingWolf

Maybe it's running it as a service that makes the difference. It'd be interesting to know for sure, but I for one am not willing to give up any cpu cycles and lost WUs just to experiment:D

I can set the fsb to 150 for 2250mhz but the temps here are high and cpu2 is already at 57-59 deg full load. I dont wanna push it till I get some more money.

I dont use the -local tag on my dualy, I just change the setup file to say one of the cpu's is number "2"(set to "1" default)

Audioaficionado
05-30-03, 10:11 AM
I did that on my PPro but got screwed anyway. The -local flag fixed it. I asked because I want to build a dullie next box I build. As great as this board is, I just like duallies better.

Yeah well I gotta stop screwing around with my rig! hehe! Tonight I tried to get my other chip to run but the L10 swap didn't work right (gotta redo it in the morning) and I lost a WU that I was part way thru after all day after I put the 2100 back in and reattempted to pass 1860 Mhz unsuccessfully. :(

Now I'm in a 3-way race with Disco Stu & themightybuck to see who gets to 10K in two months or less.

Fast420A is about to get a third processor and upgrade another to a Tbred-B. When that happens, he'll go yellow and kick all our arses. Disco Stu is also about to light up a duallie real soon.

Your duallie with 4.2GHz of folding power should have beat me last month.

Gaming is importaint too. I won't build a box just for folding. I build 'em to use and have fun on. FAH is just going to get the spare CPU cycles, not all of 'em.

verbatim
06-05-03, 03:26 PM
Too true, Too true. I'll try and beat ya this month. Soon you'll be under 400 though.

I had a look forward on the stats screen and allmost all the guys in front of us are only whites. We will eventually take em over as long as we got 2 going.

Oh by the way I got server 2003 going thanks. No sound though....

06-05-03, 03:39 PM
I'm going to try it again after I mirror my current boot HD. Last time I tried to install w2k3, it borked the FAT so bad that I had to reinstall both 98 & w2k on another HD.

Aside from the sound issue, is w2k3 doing all what you wanted it to ;)
