View Full Version : Just had a Maxtor die
One of my 80gig Maxtor drives died without any warning today. It was running perfect. Then I rebooted and immediatley started making this weird sound sorta like the arm that the heads are on is banging on something inside the drive. The computer can no longer recognize the drive and it won't boot up with this drive hooked up. And all my MP3s were on there. Among other things that I didn't want to lose.

That's not good to hear, considering I have one currently and am looking for another one for a raid setup....
I Went through 4 Maxtor drives this past year. They the only ones I could get cheap and well I guess i payed for it. My next HD is gonna be a seagate.

Sometimes you just get unlucky with computer stuff.
I've been using my two 30gb maxtor drives for 2 1/2 years now, with constant formatting(since whenever something goes wrong I reformat, Sometimes I just can't help but install tons of random crap :D)
*hug*
I know exactly how ya feel. See other thread.
Damn that sucks, hopefully you'll get a new one. :D
