View Full Version : Blame it on the SL6EF?

I have a GA-8SQ800 using the SiS 655 NB chipset, coupled with Kinston HyperX PC3200 DDR. I try to run the FSB to 160 with both synchronous and asynchronous memory speeds, where it craps out. Rock stable at 150FSB. I've tried giving vdimm +.2V as well as 1.625V vcore to the P4 simultaneously, but no dice (instability/BSODs). I'm hesitant to go past 1.625V until my aftermarket cooler arrives.
Could this be due to a possible overheating NB or memory controller?
All help is greatly appreciated,
Butmonkey.

do you have the PCI/AGP locked?
do SiS chipsets allow PCI/AGP lock?
though it is possible you may have a dud, I'd sooner blame SiS than a C1 2.4b
Where was the chip made?
what's the fpo batch?

It's produced in the Phillipines, I need to dig up the FPO batch number from my clutter. :-/

By the way, yes the board does have an AGP/PCI lock, and it is indeed enabled. I'm actually starting to wonder if the thing even works...
ya.
I've got a Phillipines chip as well. tops out at 2700 unless you want to volt the heck out of it.
Should have looked for a costa or malay instead. But the place i went to had only phills.

What's up with the Filipino chips? I've got a weak 5 'RZ 2.4B Philippines and this dog will only do 150fsb, any higher and it starts to crap out on me.
I don't think it's your mobo, there seems to be a trend here...

I suppose I'll upgrade the heatsink and see what I can get out of this thing.
Perhaps I'll just by a new heatsink and make this one a folder.
