Why me, I dont know whats up. I was running my system smoothly, I powered down because I am messing with my watercooling, (trying to get those arsehole bubbles out) I power back on, go play some counter-strike, then realize I have 30 fps! WTF 2100+ XP @ 2167 and a 9700 Pro getting 35 fps in counter-strike? So, then I go and check my temps, 19C WTF. IM like no way, that would be awesome if it was true..well it was, my cpu was running at 700 somethin Mhz. I went into the bios, and it said 13 x 166 but it wasnt clocking it at that. I tried resetting the cmos then, putting it back to 13 x 166, still shows up as 700 something mhz. WHY!!!!! This cpus is un-modified, I havent done anything with the bridges, I have always been able to access all multiplyers with my board and this chip, is my board broken? I am using the 1003C bios. Please help!!!!

Is this on the system in your sig?

19C? Wow, what is your ambient temp?

Anyway, what multiplier and fsb does it show in windows? If you don't have a program to check that already, get WCPUID or something.

I had a weird thing happen with my board were it wasn't reading the multi I was changing. This was on the board in my sig that uses DIP switches and what happen was the switch wasn't set up properly so it was going back to default which is auto (12.5). I don't know if that board uses DIPs but you may want to look into it, one may have moved or something liek that.

K to be exact its 833 mhz.
This is waht cpu-z reports when i run 13 x 166.
5 x 166 = 833
Reports as an Athlon Xp Tbred
(yes this is the system in my sig)
I am out of ideas :(

EDIT :
12.5 and below work fine, anything above that, it just starts over it seems. IE. 13x = 5x

Hmmm, sounds like some kind of board quirk... or setting of some kind. I am not familiar enough with the a7n8x to help you, sorry. I would suggest you post in the asus motherboard section.

You should consider yourself lucky. On my a7n8x, I can't change the multi at all. Every time I change it, it refuses to boot :eh?:

Mine does something similar after a bios update, defaulting to 100mhz FSB. Just change the setting 1mhz, reboot, then go back into the bios and change it to whatever.
