howdy boys (and girls?).

would very much like to know what type pencil lead/graghite was used to unlock your processor, and how well did it work. i.e., did any multiples refuse to work? also is it permanent, many recommend conductive ink.

am building my first AMD system this weekend and don't want to fix the HS +F any more than necessary.

I greatly appreciate any advice I can get on this matter. thanks

I just use an HB pencil - it was the first one I laid my hands on. I generally reapply the pencil every week or so - not cos I need to but because I generally take my mobo and stuff out of my case every now and then to mod something, so I redo the bridges while I'm at it. They may well last for longer, but I can't say cos I haven't bothered to find out :-)

thanks Rob,

since posting the question I have discovered that a rear window defroster repair kit (which I can find, $6.99 @ AutoZone) is a good substitute for the conductive ink (which I could not find). I thought I was going to have to use graphite.

maybe you should do the same? reconnecting those bridges all the time must be a pain in the ass.
