well, today i have read l lots of horror stories about unlocking chips. here is my predicament: i know if i apply pencil it'll work, but i want it to last, 'casue i'm afraid of crushing the die while putting on the heatsink (read that one) also, i want it to be permenant, but i have really really shaky hands (had my wrist sliced open buy some flying glass..dont ask) so my left hand shakes like an unbalanced fan. so i need a permenant solution that i can UNDO if i dont do it right. i need the best idea about this, cause i'm getting a duron for my first AMD chip (i've wanted to covert for years =) ) then i'll get me a T-bird once AMD re-works the core.
=p
so any advice o using something that wont get deteriorated by the processor, but will stay unless i remove it?? one last question: if i cross the wrong bridges, will it fry my processor faster then an omlette?

where do you live

if in the states then go to autozone or N.A.P.A. or a autoparts store and get a rear window defroster repair kit and ude the paint inside the kit

the paint is conductive paint

apply with the tip of a tooth pick

it works great

well i could tell you that you fears are unfounded but i doubt that would help at this point .... so here are some more constructive tips ....

start with the pencil ... it is: a) durable enough to hold up long enough to get your confidence in the process up and you will get a feel for what you are doing b) it is easy enough to redo and start over if you think you may have crossed the bridges before you fire it up c) wipe the tip of the pencil off inbetween penciling the bridges keeps things clean d) invest in a magnifying glass .... it will make your life easier in the long run

when placing the heatsink back on .... don't tip the whole heatsink to attached the far clip .... place the heatsink on flat and square to begin with and then move the clip to hook it on .... (if you lap the heatsink you will take enough surface off the heatsink to make it easier)
hope this helps
