hey all, newbie to the board here,
i was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a Slot-A heatsink. Seems everyone has these 'thunderbird' dohickeys and everyone's forgot about the amd classics.
any suggestions would be great, anything's better than the crappy oem hs i have.
i have a 750 with an abit KA-7(which i've gotten to post at 1gh)

I certainly agree with you everybody's forgetting the good old amd classics. In my opinion they are one of the best overclockable systems. Example: my 500 does 800 (and even more), have you ever seen a Thunderbird 1000 make 1600? I haven't.
About coolin: Athlons bark out a LOT of heat, especially when overclocked. I had a Golden Orb, and believe me, these things STINK! Running 1.65V 750MHz gave me 49°C at the coldplate. My dual fan coolermaster can even do this! If you want to do this really good, take Jeff's advice and say "NO" to forced aircooling (c) all rights reserved . My system 800 at 1.8V runs 30°C now, no aircooling can beat that, and it's more silent than aircooling.
But when you buy an aircooled solution, don't buy a orb cooler. My advice...
Avoid the GlobalWin VOS32. Had one on my 900 Athlon, and the weight of it ruined my motherboard slot. I was able to get the CPU to boot on other boards, but the Abit KA7 was toast.
