View Full Version : t-bird 1100 won't go past 1100

Before I begin, I'm running an 1100 t-bird blue core with an Alpha PAL6035 and delta fan with an A7V with voltage mod @1.72v
K, here's the deal--I originally had a 700 t-bird @ 875 rock stable...but I decided to get the 1.1GHz when the prices went down a bit thinking I would be able to get it to at least 1200MHz

Unfortunately, my processor won't go much past 1100--I thought it was a finnicky chipset at first because it refused to go past even 1133 (and not even stable at that), but I just unlocked my processor, and no matter what voltage I set it to (tried all the way up to 2.0v), the processor will not boot windows past 1100...it will, however, post at up to 1250...I am currently running 10x110=1100MHz so I can at least enjoy the higher bandwith...

Obviously the unlock that I did worked, because I was able to change the multiplier to 10x and it runs fine--but I don't have a clue why the processor won't boot past 1100--maybe it's the 1005B bios i'm using or something new that amd is doing with their processors or I don't know what...

Again, I WAS able to unlock my processor, but it won't boot windows past 1100...

If anybody has an idea, please please reply

Does your cpu post at all multiplier settings, 10,5..11..11,5..12. ?? but no win?, does win lock up at all speeds over 1100, even 1111?

Dont get me wrong, I know you did unlock you cpu, still you might be facing to high resistance over the L1's

Like Eriksson says, it could be the bridges - some people find that changing from pencil to something more conductive like the rear window defroster paint, or a silver pen, allows them to oc more - even though the unlock had worked already with the pencil. I've also noticed that I've only heard this from people running at higher speeds - I have no idea why, but maybe the pencil just can't kick it at high speeds for whatever reason. I think it's more likely to be the bios though - 1005b doesn't work at all on mine, I've gone back to 1004d. It's rock solid, and I've heard of problems with all the 1005 bios series - some run fine on one machine, won't get past post on others.

Try going with a higher VCore. Try a 1.85. Its very unlikely that you might run a risk of damaging your CPU at this voltage. Most AMD processors can hack anything well over that, but to go over your gonna need more cooling and a voltage mod. (More voltage, More Stability)

OK, maybe I didn't make my first post clear enough--I tried, but you can never include all the details...

I used conductive paint to connect the L1's (from a rear windows defroster repair kit) and I made sure all the bridges had a solid connection and didn't overlap one another--again, I HAVE changed the multiplier on my 1100 from 11x to 10x (and 110MHz fsb) to get 1100...yes the two clock speeds are exactly identical 1100=1100 except for the higher bandwith...

If I use fsb alone to get above 1100 (say 11x103=1133), the system will either try to boot into windows and give me a blue screen or give a "non system disk" error immediately after post...

At speeds above 1133 (either by fsb or multiplier) the likelihood that my system gives a "non system disk" error increases tremendously--in fact, at 1200 or above--either by multiplier or fsb overclock, the only thing I get is the "non system disk" error

I also did the voltage mod on my mother board a while back (and I have tried higher voltage on this processor to overclock already--same results) and am able to get it up to about 2.2v

I'm going to try flashing the new 1005D bios on my A7V tonight...
If anyone has any more suggestions, please post them

i beleave its the bois
i used 1004D becuse it was the only one i could find that was stable

my overclock went down in the 1005 bios's and also wont run you cpu as fast (as in performance) as 1004D

i would try this bios
1004D if you need it let me know i will direct you there

Thanks AZZKICKER, I'll try that...nothing else seems to be working
