View Full Version : Athlon , thunderbird. Difference?
Whats the difference between an Athlon and thunderbird. From what i see, i can't see the difference except for the name. I want to configure an Athlon based PC for my use. Any suggestions on motherboard and heatsinks?

The T-Bird is the 0.18 micron version with on-board L2 cache. Definately get the T-Bird!
For a new system, either the Abit KT7A/KT7ARAID or the Asus A7V133A are good choices.
Alpha makes a very good heatsink.
haha. K~ I'll try not to go to hell so early.
My pal's Tbird burnt out after two days of use. Thats why I'm afraid of getting a Tbird for myself. Maybe he didn't have a proper heatsink installed. Thanks for u'r views

He definately had something wrong! AMD chips run hot and if they're not cooled properly that can happen! :(
Ok. I love AMD processors because they are better then Intel. I dun really like intel, they are more expandsive. Heat problems can always be solved. Australian Users please give me a rough idea on how much a T.Bird would cost.
