More PC800?

Yes, yes before you say anything i know rdram is down the ****hole. Im getting a new system with DDR, but anyways i have this Dell 8100 with 256 of PC800 Ram, and it runs SLOW, it takes about one minute to shut down, and one minute to start up. Then there are like 47 running processes (how do i cut these down?). Will another 256MB of memory help? And by how much? Oh, and it this helps the PF usage varies from as low as 160 to as high as 210.

type "msconfig" in the run box. and disable any crap that is starting up and slowing down the machine. uninstall any un-needed apps. and also run services.msc from the run box to disable uneeded services.
