I just read something that suggested that a cpu may be able to clock a bit higher after a suitable burn in run. Is this true?
when i first put this system together i wasent able to break the 1.2 mark then i heard about burn in and tryed it over the corse of about a week i pushed the old girl up to 1233 it worked for me ;D

How very intresting. Well, I've got RC5 running now, and I'll have to let you guys know how it works out. Thanks again Kat.

I ran RC5 and 3dMark2000 for a couple of weeks. Sometimes alternating between SiSoft Sandra and RC5. It never made a difference for me. I dont know why, but my Duron 600 just doesnt like anything above 950Mhz. I am running 981mhz now, but she is still bitchy. She locks up sometimes and sometimes gives me errors with RC5. Im gonna need some further cooling I think. I think that my powersupply might be a limitng factor also. I have a 250W. Should I go for a 400W? Advice anyone? Oh another thing, I have a Voodoo3 2000 PCI... (dont ask me why but lets just say it was a bargain.) Can the VidCard be a limiting factor with my overclocking. Since messing with the FSB the PCI runs higher than 33mhz.. sometimes my vidcard goes a little crazy... Usually a reboot fixes it but still... it might cause conflicts. Any suggestions?

one way i burned in my cpu was to run it at default speed with the voltage cranked up, and while running cpu intensive programs...
overdose, yea, a new power supply would be a good idea, at least a 300w, but a 400 should do the trick. also the vid card might be limiting you a little... what kind of cooling do you have? temps? that could be a big reason why it freezes....
good luck!
