Hi,
I am looking to purchase an AMD XP3000 but I'm unsure what fan to buy.
I am looking at a Alpha PAL8045 with a Papst 8412 NG but will this be able to handle the temps of the CPU or are there any other coolers on the market that are better.
The motherboard is an Asus A7N8X Deluxe nForce. Will I need to modify the board in order for the fan to fit?
Any help / advise will be much appreciated
Regards

slk-800 or slk-900 with a thermaltake smart case fan 2
or if noise is not a problem get a vantec tornado fan. but those r really very very loud!!
you could try the slk900 with the 92mm tornado and do a volt mod, its better than all 92mms because its the widest: 92x38mm. Anyway theres a sanyo denki 92mmx32mm which is bearable at full speed, get both of them at sidewindercomputers.com... but also there are some evercool 120mm aluminium ones at xoxide.com which are DEAD SILENT and push as much air as a full speed 80mm tornado.
Take your pick... i dunno if fan adapters are that good but if you wanna try the 120mm route i would suggest one instead of just forcing it onto the slk900

I don't think the slk-900 fits on the A7N8X. I think an slk-800 might though.

ive read somewhere the 800 series suffers from heat spotting..
IE Thermal heat spots on the heatsink..
Something to do with impurities in the metal..
Please dont SHOUT... it was just somthing i read...
not sure if its FACT or FICTION!!
