reset the cmos should be a discharge jumper on your board or take the battery out unplug the pc and hit the power switch then put it all back together try it a gain also if you took v card out make sure its seated properly remove it blow the slot out with compressed air this might help
and did you hear a cracking noise I chipped my old 900 tbird and heard it (still worked);D

i already tried the cmos jumper but still nothing...
i mean everything is running (Hdd, Hsf...) but nothing on screen. if i look closer to the cpu core i can see a tiny piece of it missing (top left corner but very tiny).... could it be the reason ? is my cpu dead ? i plan to buy a new one (duron 700) to replace it but if the problem comes from the mobo and not the cpu i m gonna feel very bad... what do u think i should do ?
here is my system now :
duron 800 (used to run at 1000)
abit KT7 raid
256 sdram pc133

do you have access to another vid card or a computer store where they can test yours and your chip
also if you took your monitor plug off look and see if you bent any pins also I think if you hold the control key down when you power up this will allow you to start in safe mode ;D
keep that gorb away from your new chip!!!!!! gorbs are known as socket a chip killers, and for good reason. if you can, try the chip in another mobo. that's one sure way to find out. that chipped corner is not a good sign, though.

Ok, here is what i've done :
i tried with another vidcard >>>>> nothing
i tried with another screen >>>>> nothing
So i've come to the conclusion that either the cpu or the mobo is dead ! i hope it's the cpu !!
the problem is i can't try it on another mobo and stores are miles away from where i live (i order everything from the net).
so i'm gonna order another cpu and pray for it to solve the problem...
Thx guys for ur help !
what chip do u suggest me to buy between the Duron 700 and the Thunderbird 800 ?? where i live (in france) the T800 cost twice the price of the D700, so is the extra power worse the price ? i play games.
i was happy with my Duron 800@1000 but if the Thunder is much better i'll go for it !
Please tell me what to choose ?

Once you get to a certain point any extra power is unecessary - a duron 700 at 1000 will run games fine - it's the vid card that's really important, not the processor when you're talking cpu speeds of 800 or more. I'd get the duron and just save the extra money - you don't really need the extra power, and it'll probably oc to a higher speed than the tbird :-)

good news, i just received my new duron 700 and everything runs fine !!
i'm overclocking it right now , 700@850 (1,6V) i know i can go much higher but i m doing it step by step !
i'm sure i'll get the gig and maybe a bit more.
so i did fry a duron 800, that was the problem.
thank u all for ur help !!
