Still good for $170??? Heh, I know how you feel though, 256 sounds nice, but it doesn't mean crap if it is demolished by the 9500pro.

No, it won't. The 5600 might be bad, but it's not THAT bad. Remember that it's rarely beaten by a ti4200, and with aniso/AA it blows it away. Well, not blows away, but it is significantly faster.

If it says NVidia somewhere in the name of a graphics card it can't beat out an ATi IMO. Not a flame but I switched from NVidia to ATi and it will take alot more than what they offer with the $900.00 5900 Ultra to change me back. Not to mention the small airplanes they put on them for cooling these days.

wannaoc- that was too far. i personally think that the nvidia cards arent half bad, they are just overpriced for the performance. I'm willing to bet that if a 5900 cost the same as a 9700 most would change their opinion.

just my .02

Don't buy one of those 256MB FX 5600's if you are considering them. I bought the Gainward FX 5600 Ultra/780XP 256MB and it was clocked slower then a non-ultra FX 5600 is supposed to be @ 300/400 and it wouldn't overclock by even 15Mhz on either side! I quickly sold it and ordered the only FX 5600 Ultra on the market right now which is the Leadtek WinFast A310 128MB and let me tell you I'm very impressed! It's clocked @ 350/700 default and I'm running it at 375/925 with no modifications & standard air cooling! My old card was a GF4 Ti4600 and I love this card alot more then that one, no kidding. I couldn't believe the difference between this card and that Gainward crap FX 5600 in even the looks. It's alot heavier feeling in my hand as it has a nice heatsink fan that covers the memory chips on top and bottom. The 256MB FX 5600 board gave me 190fps in Q3 @ 1024 and this card is giving 265fps in Q3 @ 1024. Also I went from 13890 3d2k1marks to 14439 3d2k1marks and 1892 3d2k3marks to 3798 3d2k3marks! That's a pretty big difference. I've played alot of my games on it including UT 2003, Vice City, Splinter Cell, Moto GP 2, Rallisport Challenge, etc and all of them run silky smooth on this badboy. It was a little over $200 from Newegg.com, I very highly recommend this card. This is unusual for me to buy a midrange card, actually because I've always bought the best card out before and I couldn't be more pleased, very highly recommended. I also sold my Ti4600 for $150 on ebay so this was an amazing upgrade for $50. :)

I love Nvidia, I would never cross the tracks to the other side. Ok I'm getting a Laptop soon with a Raedon 9000 64 meg init, but I had no choice and the Nvidia GeForce 4 thats made as an option for this laptop will slide right in, then I can throw the Radeon away or maybe use it for a coaster, hehehe
