I lapped mine down to where it's very smooth, but that AMD Logo is still on the slug. Do I need to sand it off as well?

the best way to see how "flat" your chip is put a heavy coat of water color marker on a piece of glass and before the ink dry`s put the die on it, look and see where the ink is ;D

that's a point actually. most people lap their coppermines, but not many peeps seem to lap their socket a procs... so i'm not sure how far you can go. anyone...?

You're the first person I've heard of lapping a T-Bird. The small die size really doesn't lend itself to too much surface distortion. If it is still working after what you have already done, leave well enough alone.
