Folks-

everyone seems to be convinced (or nearly anyone, anyway) that voltage increase is the way to ensure higher cpu overclocks. I'm here to say this is not so. Presently I'm running a tbird 1.2 @ 1.32 gz at 1.65 volts. Stably. When I increase it to 1.75, no go. If I go to 1.85, I can can only oc to about 1260 stably. Why, of course, is heat. Unless you have a diesel cooling solution (at least a fop38), the voltage increase might only hurt results.

The best move when ocing is to go up, see where you top out, and then go down from the spec voltage, and see where you bottom out. You might be surprised. I sure as hell was.

You are right unnecessary voltage is...well.. unnecessary, and can spoil the party.

You don't need to increase voltage whatsoever. Just do as locust suggests, up your speed until you hit the wall then back down. If you have to have really high cpu speeds then go ahead, but the cpu database has lots of whopping increases by just using default voltage or slighter higher.

Yes, you were right~
I overclocked my 1.2GHz @ 1.33 (10 x 133MHz) with 1.75V but it was unneccesary. I lowered the voltage down to 1.7 and it works great and stable and what's better is that it lowered my CPU temprature by 1~2 degrees.(May not seem big but it does make a difference.) My mobo is showing only 1.68V is put into the CPU and that's why it's lowering the temp.
Anyways, thanks for your info.

Now I'm running my 1.2GHz @ 1.33GHz with only 1.68V yeah~
