I've ended up with 3 cpus over the period of the last 3 months. They are as follows:
XP1700+

Anyway, I decided I would try to OC them as high as I could with my air cooling and see their relative merit based upon a single mobo, memory etc. You need to be carefull because these are only a single cpu tested for each so the results aren't statistical.
I might be able to get a few more 10's of Mhz out of each of them but these are the resulting overclocks.
The 1700+ reached 2461Mhz.
The 2500+ reached 2310Mhz.
The 2600+ reached 2332Mhz.
The results are reasonable close but the raw speed of the 1700 does place it first in the Prime95 benchmark and 3DMark2001 results I've not shown. Given the variablity that one can find from one chip to another, I would say there isn't a clear winner in absolute performance and depends on the luck of the draw when any of these 3 chips are concerned. For example, you get a 2500 that will run 2.5Ghz then it'll win!
In bang/buck, the 1700DLT3C is perhaps nearer to being a winner today. But as the prices on the other two chips continue to drop while 1700DLT3C suppliers charge an arm and a leg for the DLT3C, it isn't clear how long this conclusion will be valid.
Anyway, thought the results were interesting but certainly not earth shaking!
