Im looking to build my first AMD based system. I wan to go the Thunderbird route untill the Palamino is released. I am looking for opinions on the most overclockable Thunderbird. The CPU database tells me its the 750 overclocking 241 more mhz on the average. Right now I am looking to air cool it as I do not have the time or money to invest in a water cooled, pelitier, or astek vapochill setup. Any motherboard recommendations will be appreciated also. (I am looking into IWill kk266-R, any feedback on this board would be great) Please post your setup for me so i can weigh my options on the success of other overclockers.

Questions:
1. Most overclockable Thunderbird (Air cooled)
2. What Heatsink and Fan Combo are you using. ( Noise is not an issue for me as my speakers are usually cranked to an mp3 or a game)
3. What motherboard are you using or recommend. ( possibly RAID if not what RAID card you recommend.)

Thanks, for your input

Kinda hard to reply to your post as nearly every chip is unique. I can say try to get a "blue" core from the Dresden plant. They seem to be using the copper core which relates to higher OC and superior cooling. I had a blue core 800 pushing 1.2 with a pep 66t heat sink on an abit kt7. Switched to a danger den cooling block, broke the damn tab on the board. Back to my old p3 400 till the replacement parts arrive. Danger Den said they would send me a couple clips and thier new prototype holddown so at least they are claiming to back thier products, when it arrives Im back to water.

Thanks for the info Tom.
Quite the overclock.
So i should be looking for the blue core.
Are Blue cores more loot and how hard are they to find?
I understand that every chip is unique, as i am just looking for fellow overclocker success stories to help me make a more educated decision before I make my purchase.
By the way how loud is the pep 66t, its not really a problem for me but i would like to keep the noise reasonable.

1. blue core 950.
2. alpha pep66t with a 38cfm delta fan.
3. abit kta7-raid.

i think the blue cores are pretty common in the us. just go to a store and have a look at the chips...
