Thoughts on a 17" lcd gamers monitor please..
Ive read some nasty things about these screens trailing?
My old 15" NEC games fine, I think the "LCD trailing" issue is more myth that was true 2 years ago when they first hit the market.
If you are looking for a "gaming" LCD then the Hitachi CML174 is a great choice...16ms response times...There are several 16ms response time LCD's out there...Just make sure you by one with 16ms response times and you will have as good as it gets for gaming in the LCD world...Ghosting and streaking drive me nuts and the Hitachi CML174 that my buddy has is great...There are probably better ones on the market than the Hitachi...I just do not have any experience with them...:)

It all depends on how much you wanna spend.
If you got some bank then go for the Dell 2000FP 20" monitor

That's probably one of the best LCDs out there IMO
Otherwise, I would check out sceptre and viewsonic monitors.

Actually, I'd try going for the 1900FP instead. Slightly brighter image and a MUCH better contrast ratio (500:1 compared to 350:1 for the 2000FP).

I agree, I've used a 1900FP, have them in the library computer lab on my campus. by FAR the nicest LCDs I've seen, they don't lose their picture when viewing them from an angle, something A LOT of other LCDs can have problems with. I'm planning on buying one at the end of summer, could get one now, but hoping dell will come out with a 2100FP so the price will go down a bit. Also if you want to find them cheaper than dells prices check ebay, they usually go for almost $100 less total costs (including shipping).
One other comment on the 1900FP vs 2000FP, the 1900 has the slim grey enclosure which is really nice looking, whereas the 2000 has the thicker black/grey enclosure with the tacky dell silver circular badge on the front.

I have a 17" Acer AL707, apart from one little annoying dot, with the 500:1 ratio the image quality is superb especially when I use E-Color to fix all the gamma, brightness, primary colors, etc...
The dot never bothers me though it is red...

Do you mean the power light on the monitor, or where is this red dot?
