I recently aqcuired an old 733MHz P3 chip and a few other bits, but I was missing a motherboard so I bought a GA-6OXT-A for it.

Now the board works fine apart frm one thing. The sound. I installed the drivers on the disc that was provided with the board, but when a sound plays it is heavily distorted with static. Tried downloading the latest drivers for it from the gigabyte wesbite and I still get the same problem.

I figured it could be the jacks that were buggered, so I tried listening to a CD just to make sure, but that seemed to work fine, apart from this other problem where adjusting the volume will randomly cut out the sound completely. The moving the slider up and down seemed to make the sound cut out and come back. :(

My setup is as follows:

733MHz Copermine OCed to 825MHz
3 sticks of PC100 to the total of 256MB
13GB drive
GeForce 256 SDR
DVD Drive (some generic one... works)
CDRW Drive (Sony one, can't remember the model number off the top of my head)

Windows 2000 Pro (plus service pack 2)
Direct X 9 installed (full installation)

Any ideas?
