View Full Version : Blue/Green Core? How do u know? NEED HELP ASAP!!!!
Hi Everyone,
I hope someone can get back to me ASAP. I have the day off and want to go get a 750-850 TBird (wife is not home:-)) Anyways, I called a local shop and asked if they had any "Blue" Core chips. The guy told me that he said they all look blueish/greenish to him, but would let me pick the one i want.
HOW CAN U TELL IF IT'S A BLUE CORE ONE? I have little time before the wife comes home and need a response as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance!!!

I've found the best way to find out is to go down there and look for yourself. I've gor 2 Green durons, and in poor lighting they don't seem that green. Look at them under bright light at a 45° angle, the color really comes out then.
the colour doesn't make a difference with the durons.. but it does with tbirds. have a look at them, and the blue ones definitely have a blue tint. it'll be even more noticable against a green one, so compare chips when you're looking. just lok at it under a bright light, like the man says.
Thanks All!!! I didn't have a chance to go down today, cuz the wife got home earlier than expected:-) Anyways, I'll try again soon.

If you get that chance, and he has more than 1 blue core snag them all. I am sure you could resell them for a more than you pay for. Those Dresden chips are the kings when it comes to OCing.

I just picked up a T-Bird and I wasn't able to compare it to any others but it looked more or less green looking at it straight on, but looked blue from even a slight angle. The.... liquid... stuff thats on the dark grey part (whatever... :) ) of the CPU right next to the core looks blue. The core looks a lot more shiny/metalic than the pictures I've seen on the net. I forgot to write down the #... Also, I bent the thermal probe up, but forgot to put any Arctic Silver on it, is that a big problem? I've been able to clock my 1GHz T-Bird up to 1160 (145 x 8 ) so far, but ran out of time to go higher. I'm going to go as far as I can without upping the voltage.
looks like you have a nice one there renegade.. c'mon give your baby some voltage... you know it wants more!
