CPU speed and Games.

The biggest factor in games is usually latency. Ie. Modem speed. To see the difference in game just look at your score it usually posts players pings along with scores also take a look at your frames per second. ( Most games typing FPS in console will get you that).

After modem speed though CPU speed will definitely contribute to overall latency. On a p-200 w/ cable I ping 150 on a p-700 w/ cable I ping 75, guessing on a p-1000 would be at 30-40 ms.

So yes, I belive speed can equal more kills. ;-)

Connection speed and latency are a big factor, But you definately don't need to upgrade to a 1Ghz Chip if you want pings in the 30s and 40s. Before I moved to a bandwidth-deprived area, I would run a ping of 20 to 40 via cable, the biggest thing that would affect my ping was prime time TV hours. My ping would go down to 100, on really bad nights it would dive to dial-up speeds from time to time.

I have cable here and RoadSlug tends to do that crap. Got me a toy on the back of my modem that forces me over to the B channel if ping drops too low. For the 40 bucks i am shelling out I think its my right especially after those techs got caught running a frigging quake server on the side. Hmm slow downloads after 11pm? No sir we do not why, perhaps its something outside our area......yeah right.

LOL RoadSlug...heehee...my thoughts exactly. I have roadslug, but what toy is this you speak of, would you tell me? When I signed up for RR, it was 1Mbit up and 10 down, now for the SAME amount of money per month, I get 384k up and 2Mbit down, and the pings are suckin. Send me a private message or something. :)
