I myself am a fan of Swiftechs because of their high level of performance. So I would opt for the Swiftech MCX4000.
Thank You,

I'm running a mcx4000 too. My idle temps are 27-28C and load are around 36-37C. This is with a Vantec Tornado at 7 volts and ambient temp at 25C. But I have heard good things about the slk900u
*edit* forgot to add that i got the swiftec for 40$ from svc :D

Out of the box, performance is almost identical between the Swiftech MCX4000 and SLK900.
I chose the MCX4000 over the SLK heatsink simply because they are easier to clean. Dust accumulation on air-cooled heatsinks seriously effects performance over time. The fins are so tight on the SLK900 making them harder to clean, but you can easily blow air through the pins on the Swiftech to keep it dust free. I also like how securely the MCX4000 fastens onto the MOBO. It is much less likely to jar loose when you move your case, which is a common problem with the SLK900. When these two issues happen, temps can sore. The flip side is it is easier to quickly remove the SLK over Swiftech.
Just my opinion.
From what I hear, the best for the P4 is the Zalman.
Redstone is right...There is only 1 to 2 degrees F between the SLK-900U and the MCX4000...To me either of these are the best P-4 air cooling solution available...Just being able to run a 92m/m fan makes it worth the price of admission...CFM versus dB-A compared to any 80m/m is well...No comparision...Flip a coin you really cannot go wrong with either one...:D...I personally hate clips...Hanging 400 or 500 grams of metal to the CPU socket just does not make sense when you can bolt it directly to the motherboard...:D

i think i will go with the swiftech. are there any places you guys recommend buying it from?
www.svc.com/ ...They usually have the best prices...:)
Well after going to SVC's site and Swiftech's site...seems there is a question as to weather or not you can use 92m/m fans on the Swiftech MCX4000...I sent Swiftech a e-mail and will call them tomorrow...If they will not accept 92m/m fans then I would go with the Thermalright SLK-900...Could not find many 90m/m fans...Swiftech states 90m/m fans, but SVC's site states that it will work with 92m/m fans http://www.svc.com/swmcso478cos.html

the slk-900 will work with 90 or 92mm fans. I used the 90mm thermaltake fan that pushes 56cfm at 35 dba.
