Just letting everyone know the oem warranty description for the WD raptor drives at newegg is incorrect. It lists as an Oem with a 3 year mf warranty.

The warranty on this drive is actually 1 year not 3 for oem. You can check it with your serial at wd website.

I love newegg, this is just a heads up.

It might be an idea to put this in Cyber Deals - since people might see the typo and think 'Nice warranty there :)' only to discover that the warranty was, well, worse :D

Also, if you can be bothered, sending an email to Newegg alerting them to the problem might get you a cookie :D :D

Well, I went to put in a review of what I thought about the drive. It was all positive. At the end I mentioned the mistype on the warranty tho and newegg deleted it (without fixing the error).

5 year warranty if is the drive is brand new. If you go to wd website you can type in the serial number on your drive. The oem comes up as 1 year.

Also if you do a search on pricewatch, you will see pretty much all of em listed as 1 year if oem. When i saw newegg had the same thing but listed as 3 year, i thought cool, but odd at the same time. why would a good 40 stores list it as 1 year and newegg 3. I jumped over to WD site and only saw mention of a 5 year. Now im thinking ok wtf is going on.

so i got it from newegg. When the drive came i went to western digitals site to check it to see what was up. sort of praying for 5 year I guess. baffled at the 3 year listing vs 1 year of the other stores ect.

I typed in the drive info and it came up as 1 year. it was 1 year exact from the day i purchased from it from newegg. wich was sort of strange because you didnt have to register or anything to check it so how did they get the information when it was sold.

shrug no big deal. if people say they are certain thier drive is 5 thats great. I would check it tho because it would be rather odd for some to get 5 year warrantys and others 1.

Even if that was the case where does newegg get 3. its still pulling a number out of thier ear.

had to search like hell to find it but here is the link to check it from wd.
