I found this link from reading it somewhere. (From this forum I think!?) http://holicho.lib.net/wcpuidv3/wcpuidv3.htm

I'm a little confused at the moment.........I have a P4 2.4c and ASUS P4C800. My multiplier is locked at 12x and my maximum FSB setting in bios is 300mhz. So 300mhzx12=3600mhz.
That appears to be the maximum I can achieve to the best of my knowledge. But what puzzles me is this. According to that site there are users who have a P4 2.4c that have FSB speeds well above 300mhz and there are users with the P4C800 who reach over 300mhz. So why am I limited to 300mhz x 12 since I have both pieces of hardware?

look at the cpu section, they're using ES unlocked multiplier processor. :)

How is this multiplier unlocking process work? BTW I can get 400mhz FSB now.......updarted my BIOS to v.1006.

the only processors that are unlocked are unlocked by Intel. they are called Engineering Samples. They are sent to the reviewers so they can 'test' multiple chip speeds instead of Intel having to send out multiple chips and drastically increasing their costs.

the average joe can't get their hands on one.

Ah you still got 37Mhz to cover before your board runs at 300Mhz, judging from your sig... so that's plenty of playroom right there! :)

If there's a will there's a way. Someone somehow somewhere in someway sometime in the future will find a way to unlock the multiplier. I don't give a **** how many people bitch and whine like babies how it ain't possible cuz I think I get the point. But at least I'm thinking positively and optimistic about it. Time will tell.
CHEERS!

We have a swear filter for a reason. Don't avoid it or feel my wrath.
