The easiest way for me to place my components would be to have my pump in the drive bay and my rez on the floor of the case. I think I can do that without having any backflow problems when I power the system off as long as the inlet and outlet lines are well below the waterlevel line inside the rez. Can anyone confirm or refute that?

If you build your system correctly....
& have no air in it.

It won't matter at all.

What kind of res? a bottle or the like?

Just have the "Fill tube" be the highest point in the system.
(res on bottom w/fill tube coming out, extending up.)

[if you can picture that]

Well I'm going with a temp setup for now in a secondary case untill I can get a bigger tower, I may (probably will) change to a different rez when I make things more permanent. For now I've got a 1 litre glass jar. The input, output and fill lines will go in through the cap and have tubing going down inside towards the bottom of the jar. The pump is on the bottom of the 5.25" drive bay area.
